Santos and Macron agreed to fight terrorism together

Juan Manuel Santos and Emmanuel Macron, presidents of Colombia and France respectively, met together this Wednesday at the Élysée Palace, formal residency of the French Head of State in Paris, as planned they discussed joint efforts to fight global terrorism and relations between the two nations.

One of the purposes of President Santos’ departure to France was to present the results achieved by the Colombian government in recent agreements with the FARC terrorist group to the French president. However terrorism became the top agenda item after last weekend’s terrorist attack at the Andino Center, a shopping mall in the Colombian capital, where one French citizen died.

After their gathering, Santos and Macron agreed to forcefully fight terrorism with together. Macron, his nation no newcomer to terrorism and terrorist attacks, stated that bombs would not deter the will of a united nation. He also reiterated his support for the agreements made between the Colombian government and FARC terrorists.

Following his meeting with Emmanuel Macron on Thursday, Santos will travel to Cannes to the International Publicity Festival and meet the French First Minister Édouard Philippe as well as the President of the OECD (Organization for the Economic Cooperation and Development). Colombia is petitioning to become a member of the OECD.
