The International Criminal Court confirmed today the reception of a complaint issued by a group of Colombian and Chilean senators against the President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, for committing the crimes of torture, segregation by political reasons, murder and kidnapping.

The complaint spans 56 pages and has been endorsed by 76 Colombian senators and more than 70 Chilean senators. It contains facts and concerns about the crimes committed against the Venezuelan people in the recent protests against Maduro’s government, in which more than 90 people have died.

The court has promised to carefully analyze the reports and to provide a response to Ivan Duque, Colombian presidential candidate and senator with the “Centro Democrático” party, who is leading this group of senators and initiated the complaint.
